GoGreen Man lives in the green castle. He invites his good friend Hannah Heart over to take care of his flowers. But all is not well outside of GreenVille. Dr. Pollution is watching with jealous eyes. Dr. Pollution used to be a good scientist, but during a chemical experiment it altered his brain.

초록마을은 살기좋은 아름다운 마을이에요. 사람들은 자연과 어울려 살지요. 마을 사람들은 재활용을 하면서 환경을 보호해요. 고그린맨은 초록성에 살고 있지요. 친한 친구인 예쁜이 하나를 초대해 꽃나무를 돌보게 해요. 하지만 초록성 밖에선 모든 일이 잘 돌아가지 않아요. 공해박사가 질투에 찬 눈으로 지켜보고 있거든요. 공해박사는 원래 착한 과학자였는데, 화학 폭발로 뇌가 바뀌어 버렸어요.
안녕? 난 조나단 리라고 해. 아빠는 한국인, 엄마는 미국인이라 지금은 머나 먼 미국에 살고 있어. 한국 나이로는 10살이구. 이번 호 부터‘어린이과학동아’친구들에게 지구가 얼마나 소중한지, 환경을 지키는 일이 얼마나 중대한 임무인지 알려 주는‘그린 메일’을 보내게 됐어. 편지에 등장하는 고그린맨은 환경오염에 관한 텔레비전 프로그램을 보다가 생각이 나서 그리게 됐어. 난 만화 그리기를 아주 좋아하고 환경 문제에 관심이 많아. 그래서 고그린맨을 통해 환경을 보호하는 게 얼마나 중요한 일인지 많은 친구들에게 말해 주고 싶어. 내 편지를 읽고‘어린이과학동아’친구들도 자연을 소중히 여기는 고그린맨이 됐으면 좋겠어! 앞으로 잘 부탁해!
